Ever wondered – what exactly is a paleo diet? For a while it was all the rage. Everyone seemed to be on it. “Eat like the cavemen did”, but what exactly does that mean? Today we are going to take a deep dive into paleo – what it is, how to do it, and some of the benefits it can have for your health and body.
What is Paleo?
A paleolithic diet is designed to mirror the foods eaten during the Paleolithic era which ended roughly around 10,000 BCE. The idea behind it is that the human body is designed specifically to digest certain foods, that our genetic code is optimized for certain foods above others. The paleo diet focuses mainly on foods which code have been hunted and gathered such as lean meats and fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
What Does a Typical Day’s Diet Look Like?
A paleo diet consisting of the foods mentioned above could look like this for a day:
Breakfast: Avocado, eggs, and berries
Lunch: Salad packed with vegetables, nuts, and seeds with grilled chicken
Dinner: Seared salmon, vegetables
